Maximizing Your Dragon Income Guide

by Neggs
Now that gold is useful again, I've been thinking about maximizing my income based on my dragon population. It's a tricky thing to do but fun to plan, nonetheless. So I started looking at the level 10 earn rates of all the dragons and then dividing them up into the habitats they could live in. My goal here is to find out which dragons are profitable in the most useful habitats.

Since I'll be checking in on my dragons every hour or so and obviously they'll go for 8 hours or so at night whilst I sleep, I wanna maximize the profits for the high capacity common habitats such as Earth, Cold and Water. The rest of the habitats have such low caps that they aren't really that useful to maximize. You see, what I'm trying to pull off here is getting the most back for the buck on dragons in my park while still having one of each kind of dragon. I like to maintain the one of each kind of dragon because new dragons are offered regularly enough and I'd rather not have to breed from scratch to obtain them. That being said, I have no problem doing away with the the common, gold purchased dragon eggs.

Earth Earnings (75k cap, 3 dragons)
  • Quake 59
  • Crystal 48
  • Bone 42 (can live in fire)
  • Moss 36 (can live in plant)
  • Mud 35 (can live in water)
  • Tree 35 (can live in plant)
  • Lava 32 (can live in fire)
  • Sandstorm 32 (can live in air)
  • Mountain 27 (can live in cold)
  • Earth 24 (can be removed)

Quake and Crystal are the top earners here and bone but since bone isn't easily created, we'll just stick to Quake and Crystal. So theorhetically, we want all Quake and Crystal Dragons in our earth habitats for maximized profits. As you can see I've added 'can live in x' to each dragon. If they aren't top earners, that is where they will be in my park (provided there is space).

Cold Earnings (50k cap, 3 dragons)
  • Blue Fire 156
  • Reindeer 96
  • Storm 59
  • Ice 36 (can live in water)
  • Snow 32 (can live in air)
  • Cold 30 (can be removed)
  • Mountain 27 (can live in earth)

Blue fire, obviously but its interesting to see that a seasonal dragon holds that top spot strongly. So its time to breed breed breed for some reindeer dragons until you cant anymore! Move the others to other habitats.

Water Earnings (30k cap, 4 dragons)
  • Swamp 59
  • Water 55
  • Fog 51
  • Mud 35 (can live in earth)
  • Seaweed 32 (can live in plant)

Interestingly enough we see that water's main dragon does rather well on earnings. He's easy enough to make. Let's not count Fog out though, strong earnings there as well.

So here comes the hard part. We know the dragons we want to keep, lets see how we can minimalize on the poor earning habitats. The goal here is to try to make sure to minimalize each of these habitats while still maintaing our 'every possible dragon' setup. I'm also going to add in some of the high earning habitats and their population to get an accurate count.

Plant - 4 dragons
  • Seaweed
  • Tree
  • Moss
  • Poison
Lightning - 4 dragons
  • Firefly
  • Scorch
  • Sonic
  • Lightning
Air - 4 dragons
  • Sandstorm
  • Air
  • Snow
  • Willow
Fire - 4 dragons
  • Lava
  • Bone
  • Flower
  • Blazing
Earth - 3 dragons
  • Mountain
  • Crystal
  • Quake
  • xxxx
Cold - 3 dragons
  • Storm
  • Mud
  • Blue Fire
  • Reindeer
Water - 4 dragons
  • Ice
  • Mud
  • Water
  • Fog
Water - 4 dragons
  • Swamp
  • xxxx
  • xxxx
  • xxxx
That's 8 total habitats to keep my 1 of everything rule (except the primary dragons) and the 2nd Water habitat has room for more. So at level 20 the game gives us 18 habitats and it only takes 8 to fulfill our quota. That means you can do whatever you want with the other 10. Unless you get 4 Blue Fire dragons in an Ice habitat, you're not gonna beat out the production of a Rainbow dragon but because of the new caps, you can beat out the Sun and Moon dragon with very profitable habitats. As for me, I'd probably go heavy on the Cold and Earth habitats for the time being. Since Reindeer is part plant, 10+ levels are easily accessible to him and since he's a holiday dragon, time is limited.

Once I've fully optimized my dragon park I'll post an update on things that may have changed my perspective in the scope of this guide.

Nice guide, but im curious and how you handled your dragon boost buildings...
i'll give you my design -

Island 1: dragon boost- plant, water, fire.
I have 7 fire habitats. 6 habitats have maxed flower dragons (rate 85/min per dragon). 3 water habitats, 2 habitats have maxed swamped dragons (rate 85/min per dragon). 1 plant habitat nothing special.

Island 2: dragon boost- earth, lighting.
Only have 1 earth and lighting habitat cause earth generates to slow and lighting's max is to little. plus i put 2 rainbow dragons down here cause i had the space.

Island 3: dragon boost- cold, air.
This has my farms, colosseum, and other habitats.

I tried to maintain 1 of each dragon as well, but i like your idea of not keeping the coin purchasable dragons since they can easily be replaced.

I obviously tried maximizing boosts with habitats.... cold, earth, lighting, air either build revenue to slow or have a coin cap to low. So went with fire and water with my money makers.

Champeeuhn I did literaly the same thing with the island boost placement. It has worked out well for me. Lacking Rainbow dragon but i wish we got a boost for having both sun and moon dragons

I set up my boosts slightly differently.

Island 1: dragon boost - plant, water, fire, air
This makes it really profitable for the swamp, flower, poison, fog, and willow dragons - as they all get double boosts. Also on this island are my seaweed, blazing, plant, water, fire, and air dragons. Ideally, I'd like to get as many swamp dragons on this island as possible, since they earn 85/min per dragon at level 10. I prefer these over the flower dragons, since the water habitat can max out the cash at a much higher amount than the fire habitat.

Island 2: dragon boost - lightning, earth, cold
This makes it really profitable for the quake, storm, and crystal dragons - as they get the double boosts. Also on this island are my mountain, lightning, earth, and cold dragons. Ideally, I'd like to get as many quake and storm dragons as possible. Not only do they get the 85/min per dragon amount at level 10, but they also reside in the cold and earth habitats which max out at really high amounts.

Island 3: dragon boost - none
This is the island for the remaining dragons - which are the reindeer, blue fire, sandstorm, scorch, firefly, sonic, ice, moss, mud, tree, lava, and snow. Some dragons (like the reindeer, blue fire, and sandstorm can't benefit from boosts no matter how you set them up) and other dragons on this island just don't benefit from the way that I've particularly set up the boosts and islands. But dragons like the reindeer are relatively easy to breed when you have at least two of them, and they natually produce 96/min per dragon at level 10 anyway. So they really do better without boosts than most others do even with the boosts.

The sun, rainbow, and moon dragons can be on any of the 3 islands, since boosts don't affect them. I missed out on the bone dragon, so I didn't include that in my set up.

Why is my sonic pulling a negative? I checked the boosts and did not see why. I moved from lightning to air but it still shows negative. Does anyone know why?

I have nine Panlong dragons in three earth habitats, these nine dragons are maxed by a boost of fire and water ( these are the only boosts that will cause no negative affect for panlongs) their income is 278 each with lvl 10 and boosts, this means each habitat has a 834 hold per minute this is multiplied by the three habitats making for and overall income of 2502 gold per minute.... ;) have fun

No metal dragons or what??? Why do none of you include metal dragons?
Pez 20 days ago
Because this guide was out before metal dragons. :))

Put your metals on an island with earth filled with panlongs. Magnetic makes the most money, but iron is very close and earns more xp.
